Whakawhanaungatanga 2023

In response to the essence of Whakawhanaungatanga, this inaugural exhibition was conceived with the intention of establishing relationships, relating well to others and collaboration/cooperation between Tauira from both Ara Te PÅ«kenga and Ilam School of Fine Arts. This exhibition offers tertiary students the opportunity to showcase their art practice to a wider audience in a well-established gallery, but also, to share, relate and network with each other.

“Kernels”

The Casting Room art gallery

2023

Within the constraints of a small canvas, each artist offers a unique snapshot of their lives and artistic practice. By isolating this moment in their artistic journey, the exhibition creates a collective landmark that redefines and recontextualizes their individual works within the context of their peers. The title "Kernels" symbolises the artists' early stages of growth, akin to small seeds or grains, as they embark on their careers and artistic exploration.
